Silas Redd makes Redskins roster, Mikel Leshoure off Lions

The Washington Redskins will keep undrafted rookie running back Silas Redd on their 53-man roster to start the season.

Redd racked up 157 yards on 34 carries (4.6 avg) this preseason adding a touchdown and three receptions. The addition of Reed to the roster means that Lache Seastrunk and Chris Thompson have failed to make the team.

Another Redskins note of interest is that kicker Kai Forbath will remain with the team.

Lions dump Miikel Leshoure

What a difference a few years make. Mike Leshoure was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft earning the starting role a year later. Now he is being left off the Lions.

Leshoure did not play special teams and with Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick all on the roster there simply was not enough carries to go around.

In his career Leshoure has 217 carries for 807 yards and nine touchdowns. Seldome used last season, he caught 34 passes for 214 yards out of the Lions backfield in 2012 which gives him dual threat options. Someone will pick him up for a look.
