Fourth-overall pick Sammy Watkins left Thursday’s preseason game against Detroit with an injury to his ribs. As WGR 550 in Buffalo reports the injury to Watkins is the same as the one he suffered to his ribs on Aug. 17 in Pittsburgh.
Watkins was led too far by quarterback EJ Manuel on a slant route taking a forearm to the ribs from Ashlee Palmer. He would leave the field afterwards and was taken to the locker room.
The Bills lost the game 23-0.
The recently signed Jordan Palmer did himself no favors in his efforts to win the backup quarterback job for the Bills. After a strong showing during his time in Chicago, Palmer struggled to a 9-of-22 line for 73 yards while tossing three interceptions.
