The Houston Texans biggest weakness may be at quarterback, which just happens to be the NFL’s most important position.

Fresh off a poor performance of projected Week 1 starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien confirmed to the Houston Chronicle that the free agent signing was still at the top of the depth chart.

Asked directly by the Chronicle if Fitzpatrick was still the teams starter, O’Brien said “Yes.”

Fitzpatrick took to the field without Andre Johnson or Arian Foster for the preseason opener. He produced just a 6-of-14 for 55 yards line with two inceptions which immediately reminded fans of former starter Matt Schaub who was jettison to Oakland in the offseason.

The Texans will be looking for more out of Fitzpatrick as the preseason goes along but right now there is nothing to suggest that Case Keenum or Tom Savage is about to pass him on the depth chart.
