Rookie Chandler Catanzaro handled the kicking duties in the Arizona Cardinals preseason opener and word around the league is that he could beat out veteran Jay Feely for a roster spot this season.
Catanzaro is an undrafted free agent while Feely is currently signed to a one-year deal worth roughly $1 million.
Last season Feely missed three kicks inside the 40 yard line and was just 27th in kickoff average.
CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora believes that “This division is so competitive and the margin for error so tight, that if Catanzaro shows the pressure isn’t too big for him he might emerge.”
Feely is going to be given a chance to kick in future preseason contests according to Cardinals coach Bruce Arians.
