Ben Tate believes all the Johnny Manziel talk is too much

Johnny Manziel has not taken a snap in the NFL but there are a lot of expectations surrounding the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback.

Browns running back Ben Tate believes all the talk and hype around Manziel is too much.

“I feel like it,” Tate said via ESPN. “He hasn’t played a down in the NFL yet. So … I don’t know … That’s for y’all to figure out.”

Tate feels that a lot of the attention towards Manziel is simply unnecessary.

“It’s just as a player I know that I would get tired if people were constantly monitoring if I picked my nose, if I spit to the left or right,” Tate said. “I mean, it’s annoying. He’s a human being.”

“He’s a great football player so I understand why he gets some of the constant media attention. At the same time I just figure at this stage he’s tired of it and he wants to come in here and do his job and try to win the starting quarterback position.”

After his comments went public, Tate went to twitter to clarify his comments.

Manziel will need to beat out Brian Hoyer for the starting job as the Browns quarterback. Regardless of who wins the job Tate is expected to carry the rock a lot for the Browns.
