The San Francisco 49ers and representatives for quarterback Colin Kaepernick are scheduled to meet face-to-face this week to discuss a contract extension according to the Sacramento Bee.

With the 49ers getting Carlos Rogers contract off the books and additional money from the restructuring of linebacker Navarro Bowman’s contract they now have funds to work out an extension with the star quarterback.

The 49ers are believed to have last met with Kaepernick’s representatives at the NFL Combine. The team has backed the quarterback following a police report out of Miami and these new talks would suggest that the team has no concerns about any potential legal trouble.

Any new deal for Kaepernick is expected to approach $20 million a season.
