Eric Weems agrees to paycut from Bears

The Chicago Bears will keep veteran return man Eric Weems around after he agreed to a paycut.

Weems has agreed to reduce his base salary from $1 million to the i year veteran minimum of $730,000. In short Weems opted to remain with the Bears rather than test the open market.

Set to be 29 before camp starts, the Bears figure to use Weems only in the return game. He could be an option to replace Devin Hester.

Weems earned $915,000 last year and $2.225 million in 2012.
