We will know for certain at 4 pm ET but the Indianapolis Colts are not planning to use the franchise tag on cornerback Vontae Davis according to CBS’ Jason La Canfora.
The Colts could lose one of the NFL’s top corners and a player with whom they surrendered a second round pick for just last August.
Colts still working to sign CB Vontae Davis longterm, but will not apply the franchise tag if they don’t strike a deal by 4pm tag deadline

Indianapolis has one of the better cap situations in the NFL so perhaps they are seeking to work out a long term deal with Davis and want to avoid the one year hit.
So far, only Saints TE Jimmy Graham and Panthers DE Greg Hardy have been tagged.
This could be the year of the non-tag with Brian Orakpo, Jairus Byrd, Brent Grimes and T.J. Ward all  facing uncertain futures. In the case of Orakpo and Byrd it has been reported numerous times that neither the Redskins or Bills will tag them.
