Many have assumed that back-up quarterback Josh McCown would simply re-sign with the Chicago Bears this offseason. That may not be the case.

McCown, 34, wants to re-sign with the Bears but there could be more money elsewhere. While McCown is not seeking a starters role, he does realize his services are valuable right now.

“This is probably going to be the last time I stand in free agency with this kind of leverage,” McCown, 34, said. “So there’s an understanding of an opportunity here to gain some more resources both to take care of our family and to do more good with.”

Other teams that could be interested in McCown include the Buccaneers, Jets, Texans and Raiders.

McCown appeared in eight games last season, including six starts. He was selected as the Offensive player of the week in Week 14. He finished the season completing 66.5-percent of his passes for 1,829 yards 13 touchdowns and one interception.
