There is a chance that DeMarcus Ware will not be with the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.

Speaking on Monday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said there was no guarantee that the defensive end will return for another season with the Cowboys. The biggest thing standing in the way of Ware remaining with the Cowboys is his $16 million salary against the cap.

The Cowboys have been rumored to be seeking a way to lower the cap hit of Ware.

“There’s no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we’ve had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that’s your highest paid defensive player, and he hasn’t been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered,” Jones said on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “You can’t have it all.”

Ware is just one of many decisions that the Cowboys face as their payroll is roughly $20 million over the cap.

“We’ve got those kinds of decisions to make, which is a part of what makes it so exciting in the NFL.”
