Matt Cassel would earn $3.7 million in 2014 with the Minnesota Vikings. Casssel currently is considered to be the Vikings starting quarterback entering 2014 but the team has a new head coach in Mike Zimmer and the No. 8 overall pick.

If Cassel, 31, were to stay with the Vikings the team would have until March 18 to drop him.

Perhaps Cassel is hoping to be compensated more closely to that of a starting quarterback, rather then the back-up deal he was signed to prior to last season.

Other free agent quarterbacks include a bunch of back-up types in Michael Vick, Josh McCown, Chad Henne, and Shaun Hill to name a few.

Cassel completed 60.2 percent of his passes in 2013 for 1,807 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine intercetions.
