Clay Matthews ruled out of Wild Card game

The Green Bay Packers won their Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears to claim the NFC North title and a playoff spot.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to the Packers in that game improving the offense. Do not expect the same thing to happen with the defense. There will be no Clay Matthews.

The Packers have ruled Matthews (thumb) out of Sunday’s Wild Card game against San Francisco.

Matthews did not travel to Chicago last week and he’s unlikely to make the trip to San Francisco. This obviously shapes up great for the 49ers and quarterback Colin Kaepernick who have two consecutive wins against the Packers.

Mike Neal and Andy Mulumba will see more playing time yet again.
