The Minnesota Vikings have placed tight end John Carlson on injured reserve ending his season.

Carlson, 29, suffered the third concussion of his career in Week 14 and at 4-9-1 the Vikings are simply saving a few weekly updates from being reported.

There appeared to be a chance that Carlson would play this week when he was cleared on Wednesday but symptoms resurfaced on Thursday. Now Carlson is considering retirement. The Vikings have him signed though 2016 but can not stop him from retiring if he chooses.

He will finish the 2013 season with 32 catches for 344 yards and a touchdown.
