It took a while but the New Orleans Saints have released Garrett Hartley. The veteran kicker was a mere 22-of-30 on the season but a missed 26-yarder and a blocked kick on Sunday was the end of the road.
The Saints have signed veteran Shayne Graham as his replacement. Hartley will probably have to wait until next season to get a tryout.
“I think we’re looking closely at every element,” Saints coach Sean Payton said on Tuesday. “I told the players today at the team meeting we’re looking closely at each aspect of this team. I think in not trying to read into my answer, it’s important for us to do that.”
