Chip Kelly is the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. At-least that is what the head coach told reporters on Monday when he name became linked to the head coaching job at the University of Texas.

With Mack Brown to step aside after the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 30, Texas has been linked to numerous big name coaches in recent weeks. In addition to Kelly, Texas has a list of potential coaching candidates which include Mike McCarthy, Pete Carroll, Mike Tomlin and Jim Harbaugh.

“I understand you have to ask the question,” Kelly said Monday, “but I’m not involved in any jobs. I’m the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m going to prepare for the Bears and prepare for the Cowboys after that. Hopefully we have an opportunity to go to the playoffs and I’m going to be here for a while.”

Kelly has led the Eagles to a 8-6 record in his first season in the NFL. He was previously linked to the USC job before Steve Sarkisian landed there.

“I really don’t know,” Kelly said. “I haven’t talked to anybody. It’s just speculation. I haven’t spoken to anybody.”

“I consider myself a pro coach eight times this year, and six times I haven’t [been],” Kelly said.
