The New York Jets got a little salary cap relief on Wednesday as running back Mike Goodson agreed to cut his base salary.
Goodson, 26, did not have much leverage in the situation as he is suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
#Jets RB Mike Goodson agreed to cut his base salary from $1M to $715M. With 4-game suspension + 2 games on NFI, cap number is only $798,080.

The move will take Goodson’s salary from $1 million to $715,000 for the season. Goodson will serve as the Jets No. 3 running back when he returns from his suspension behind Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory.

Exactly what the Jets will get out of Goodson remains to be seen. He ran for 221 yards on 35 carries with the Raiders last season. Goodson caught 16 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown last year as well.
