Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell will not need surgery to repair his sprained right foot.
The Steelers and Bell had held out hope that the running back would not need Lisfranc surgery. Bell could be ready to return to the playing field in six weeks if all goes well. That would put the second-round pick on the field as early as Week 3.
Tomlin: Bell has mid-foot sprain. We are encouraged. It won't be surgically repaired. Out for this week. That is encouraging news.

There are no guarantees when it comes to foot injuries, especially Lisfranc. Santonio Holmes still has not returned from the same injury 11 months ago.
Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer will duel for the starting job while Bell is out.
