The Buffalo Bills have released kicker Rian Lindell. The move was confirmed by the team on twitter Monday morning.

Lindell, 36, was given a four-year deal worth $11 million just a year and a half ago but the Bills have opted to go with rookie Dustin Hopkins this season.

In April’s NFL Draft the Bills used their sixth round pick to draft Hopkins. He will replace Lindell who was the Bills kicker dating back to the 2003 season.

Last season Lindell was 21-of-24 on field goal attempts but has never displayed an especially strong leg from longer then 50-yards. Given his reputation he should be able to find work at some point in the season.
