The Indianapolis Colts have lost wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey for multiple weeks of practice after his left knee injury was revealed to be an MCL sprain.
“He’s definitely gonna miss a lot of time here,” said Chris Mortenson on ESPN’s NFL Insiders.
Heyward-Bey had been hoping to run opposite of Reggie Wayne for the Colts this season. Now T.Y. Hilton is expected to be elevated on the teams depth chart.
It is a tough break for the 26-year-old who spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Oakland Raiders.
Heyward-Bey’s hands had already come into question during the early days of training camp. He caught 41 passes for 606 yards and five touchdowns with the Raiders last year.
