Titans keeping in touch with John Abraham, tabs on Dwight Freeney

John Abraham wants to continue his NFL career and the Tennessee Titans are seeking upgrades at defensive end. The two would appear to be a perfect fit after meeting last week but a contract was never announced.

One reason the Titans and Abraham have not signed a deal could be the teams continued interest in Dwight Freeney.

“We know what a great player he is,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said of Freeney , via the Tennessean. “So it’s one of those things where you have to bring guys like that in because you have to see where they are physically and mentally and maybe what their thinking is. There’s a lot more to it with the older guys, to see exactly what kind of situation they’re looking for. You really don’t know that until you bring them in.”

Munchak is said to be pleased with his current roster options Derrick Morgan and Kamerion Wimbley but the team has continued to add players to the position. Ropati Pitoitua was added in free agency and defensive end Lavar Edwards in the draft.
