Jason Hanson has kicked for the Detroit Lions for 21 years. Since Hanson was drafted by the Lions in the 1992 draft the team has seen some ups and a lot of downs but there was never a question as to who was the teams kicker.

Hanson continued to be a reliable leg last season connecting on 32-of-36 attempts on a Lions team that won just four games during the 2012 season.

The Detroit Free Press notes that ,while Hanson has told the team that he wants to return for a 22nd season, contract talks have gone no where.

David Akers who was recently released by San Francisco after an inconsistent season is set to visit the Lions this week. The team also is not expected to bring back punter Nick Harris.
