Suggs calls Dumervil first “dominant pass rusher” opposite himself

The Baltimore Ravens signed linebacker Elvis Dumervil over the weekend to a five year deal. Adding Dumervil has fellow linebacker Terrell Suggs excited.

“I think this move is awesome,” Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs told The Baltimore Sun. “It shows we’re still in the business of winning and we have the best [general manager] in the world.”

While Baltimore re-signed quarterback Joe Flacco this offseason it is hard not to notice a seemingly endless line of players leaving the team.

Anquan Boldin was traded, Ray Lewis retired, Ed Reed signed with the Texas and former pass rusher Paul Kruger is now with the Browns.

Suggs went on to praise the abilities of Dumervil but may have taken a backhanded swipe at Kruger.

“He is a phenomenal pass rusher and I have not had a chance to play alongside another dominant pass rusher,” Suggs said.

With words like that the expectations on Dumervil will be high. Kruger recorded 9 sacks last season for the Ravens and was a disruptive force in the Ravens playoff run recording 4.5 sacks, including two in the Super Bowl.
