Jets add running back Mike Goodson

The New York Jets have added veteran running back Mike Goodson to their team. Goodson signed a three-year deal worth $6.9 million on Friday. The move provides the Jets with a viable and low cost option at running back.

While Goodson has shown flashes of being good he has been buried on depth charts for years.

In Carolina he was behind the duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart while he sat behigh Darren McFadden and Marcel Reece with Oakland.

Last season Goodson ran 35 times for 221 yards with the Raiders.

Shonn Greene, who served as the Jets running back in recent years, signed with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

The Jets will have an open competition at running back. Goodson and Bilal Powell are the leading candidates currently on the roster. Goodson is also a strength in the passing game and has shown ability to return kicks.
