Jay Ratliff will remain with the Dallas Cowboys. The team has restructured the defensive tackle’s contract for the upcoming season.

There was some speculation that Ratliff would be released by the Cowboys but that will not be the case after the team converted $3.66 million of his salary into a bonus. The move will save the Cowboys $2.93 million against the salary cap.

Ratliff was injured much of last season and even got into a heated exchange with owner Jerry Jones towards the end of the season.

Dan Connor was released saving the Cowboys another $3 million.Connor and the Cowboys had talked about a pay cut but apparently the team felt it was easier to simply release the linebacker.

The Cowboys had been $6.8 million over the salary cap at the beginning of the day and now are slightly under before Tuesday’s deadline of 3 pm.
