London Fletcher to play in 2013 if “healthy enough to play”

London Fletcher has remained one of the NFL’s best linebackers even as he approaches 40. Fletcher says he will return in 2013 if he can “get myself healthy enough to play.”

The inside linebacker for the Redskins turns 38 in May and is owed $5.5 million.

“(If I can) play at the level I am capable of playing, I will be back,” Fletcher said on NFL Network.

Many have assumed that Fletcher would return for his 16th season but this is the time he has made a statement. Last season Fletcher combined for 139 tackles and recorded 3 sacks. Fletcher also set a career best with five interceptions.

While the sack and interception numbers can not be assured it is safe to bet that Fletcher will once again be a key member of the Redskins defense.
