Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed said that Junior Seau “signed up for it” when he came into the NFL. The ‘it’ in his instance is concussions. Police say Seau committed suicide in May.

“I feel effects from it,” Reed said, speaking during Super Bowl media day. “Some days, I wake up and I’m like, ‘Where did my memory go?’ But I signed up for it.”

A reporter then asked Reed if Junior Seau had signed up for it.

“Did he sign up for it?” Reed said. “Yeah, he signed up for it.”

Reed later commended the play of Seau.

“Junior gave everything he had to football,” Reed said. “I’m sure he’s looking down and has no regrets.”

Player safety has dominated the early days leading up to the Super Bowl. President Obama and other have spoken out  having reservations about their sons playing in the NFL.
