Marc Trestman was named the head coach of the Chicago Bears early Wednesday morning. Despite being an offensive guy, Trestman sees the importance of defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli.
The Chicago Sun Times reports that Trestman wants to keep Marinelli as his defensive coordinator after the Bears defense ranked fifth in yards allowed and third in points allowed last season. The Bears defense paved the way for the Bears getting off to a 7-1 start.
The Bears defense led the NFL in interceptions, were second in forced fumbles and eighth in sacks.
