Brian Urlacher being fined $21k for second horse collar in two weeks

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher is being fined for the second time in two weeks for horse collar tackles. Urlacher was penalized $15,750 just a week ago for his horse collar take down of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

This time, Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune has reported that Urlacher is being fined $21,000 for taking down Seattle Seahawks RB Leon Washington.

A player typically is fined $31,500 for a second offense but Urlacher said he wasn’t fined that amount. He received a letter from the NFL on Wednesday.

Urlacher plans to appeal the fine – just as he appealed the first one. “For sure,” Urlacher said Thursday. “My last appeal went real good.”

It will likely be Urlacher’s last fine of 2012, as he suffered a grade 2 right hamstring strain in that game and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.
