Brandon Weeden on track to start Sunday against Raiders

Brandon Weeden is a sure go this weekend against the Oakland Raiders as an independent neurologist has cleared him to play. Browns head Pat Shurmur has already stated that Weeden will start on Sunday. Weeden suffered a concussion in the closing minutes of Cleveland’s win last week against Pittsburgh.

Weeden has taken all of the first team snaps during practice this week.

“It was mild. I never got knocked out,” Weeden said Wednesday after practice. “I was conscious the whole time, just a little foggy. Obviously the league is taking these things pretty seriously so you gotta go through the mandated steps and I passed all those. So I’m ready to rock and roll.”

Against the Steelers Weeden went 17-for-26 for 158 yards, a touchdown, an interception. The forecast for Sunday’s game against Oakland calls for heavy rain.

In 11 games during his rookie season Weeden has 2,456 passing yards to go with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Browns are 3-8 on the season.
