DeSean Jackson placed on IR with fractured ribs

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is being placed on inactive reserve after suffering multiple rib fractures during Monday nights game against the Carolina Panthers.

Jackson was injured on a 2-yard end-around run in the first quarter of the 30-22 loss. He didn’t return and won’t play again this season.

The Eagles can’t seem to catch a break, as they have already been without starting quarterback Michael Vick and running back LeSean McCoy,who are both battling their way back from concussions.

Jackson has been a disappointment this season after signing a lucrative new deal, but he did lead the team with 45 catches for 700 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Brent Celek’s role will increase and Jeremy Maclin now steps into the No. 1 role, a position he isn’t well-suited for.

The Eagles have not won a game since September 30. They have lost seven in a row – and it doesn’t look like its about to get better anytime soon.

Just how dreadful has the streak the Eagles have been on been? Well, the Philadelphia Phillies have won a game more recently than the Eagles. That should tell you all you need to know.
