Roethlisberger is “going to try” to return for game against Ravens

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be able to welcome back quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for their Week 13 game against the  Baltimore Ravens. When asked about his availability for next weeks game Roethlisberger said that he was “going to try” to return for it. For a Steeler team who lost to Cleveland, on Sunday to fall to 6-5, winning would strengthen its push to make the playoffs.

Roethlisberger can do no further damage to his ribs by playing in the game but the question of whether his body will allow him to has yet to be answered. The quarterback will do some soft tossing at the beginning of this week to gauge how he feels.

On Sunday against the Browns the Steelers were forced to start third string quarterback, Charlie Batch. Batch found himself starting after Byron Leftwich fractured two ribs in a Week 11 loss to the Ravens.

Currently Pittsburgh is the second Wild Card team in the AFC. If the Steelers were to lose to Baltimore they are not completely out of the playoff picture. Cincinnati (6-5) and Miami (5-6) appear to be the only teams who could prevent the Steelers form making the playoffs.
