Mack Brown has spent the last 16 seasons as the head football coach at the University of Texas.
During that time Brown returned the Longhorns to being a national power highlighted with a National Championship in 2005.
On Friday Brown and athletic director Steve Patterson met with reports circulating in the evening that the coach was fighting for his job. Speaking at the Texas Football Banquet Patterson stated his excitement to work with Brown.
“Want to say how excited I am to be working with Mack Brown. Hopefully we can work together for many years to come.” said Patterson.
Brown has a 158-47 record as the Longhorns head coach.
While speaking at the banquet Brown offered no clues to his future. He ended his speech talking about beating Oregon in the Alamo Bowl.
