The head coach for the Florida Atlantic Owls has been fired for what the school’s athletic director deemed “illegal drug use.”
FAU coach Carl Pelini and defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis resigned after admitting illegal drug use at a social event according to FAU athletic director Pat Chun.
FAU AD Pat Chun said he was ready to fire with cause. Pelini and Rekstis accepted their fates without incident.

Offensive coordinator Brian Wright, an Ohio guy, has been promoted to head coach. It appears that Jeff Sims will remain as an assistant. Jevan Dewitt will be the defensive coordinator for the rest of the season, he had been the linebackers coach.
