Jorge Bonifacio signs minor league deal with Tigers

The Tigers have signed Jorge Bonifacio to a minor league deal.

Bonifacio will be invited to spring training with the Tigers where he will try to make the big league roster.

The Tigers enter 2020 with one of baseball’s thinnest rosters and outfield is no exception. That gives Bonifacio a good chance to make the team if he can produce solid spring numbers.

Previously a member of the Royals, Bonifacio is a career .247/.319/.408 hitter with 21 homers and 66 RBI across 187 games spanning three seasons. The bulk of Bonifacio’s numbers were tallied back in 2017 so expecting him to have a strong spring is no guarantee.

In March of 2018, Bonifacio was suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug.
