Kyler Murray gives baseball the finger, chooses football

Kyler Murray, the ninth overall pick and most recent Heisman trophy winner, has chosen football over baseball.

Murray, 21, took to Twitter to show baseball fans how little he thought of their sport while saying he had trained his entire life to being the beat quarterback he could be and how he planned to help an NFL team win championships. Ouch.

Of course the biggest losers in this whole situation are the Oakland A’s who were foolish enough to waste a draft pick on Murray.

Murray will pay the A’s $1.29 million of the $1.5 million singing bonus already paid to him. He forfeits the $3.16 million owed to him in March. While the A’s retain his rights they do not get a compensation pick so basically they spent $210,000 for a guy to laugh at them for a year.

Ouch.

The list of MLB first round picks who have flamed out and never reaches the majors is long. But to draft a guy who never intended to pay for your team while you touted his athleticism on the football field is laughable.
