Michael Kopech undergoes successful Tommy John surgery

White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Tuesday Sept 18.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the surgery on Kopech in Los Angeles. The right hander is expected to make a full recovery in time for Spring Training in 2020.

Acquired in a blockbuster trade with Yoan Moncada that sent Chris Sale to the Red Sox prior to the 2017 season, Kopech was ranked the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox system and the 13th in baseball according to MLB Pipeline.

In 14 1/3 innings, Kopech was 1-1 with a 5.02 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season for the White Sox.
