Josh Harrison clears waivers, Could Pirates make trade?

A dismal August has left the Pirates falling out of playoff contention. While the Pirates went out and acquired Chris Archer prior to the trade deadline, the team now could be willing to sell off some parts including Josh Harrison who cleared waivers.

No one claimed Harrison off waivers and the Pirates are now free to trade the 31-year-old to any team. Owed the remainder of $10 million salary for this season as well as $10.5 and $11 million over the next two seasons, with $1 million and $500,000 buyouts, it is not a surprise to see Harrison go unclaimed.

It has been a tough 2018 campaign for Harrison who currently sports a .257/.299/.365 line for the season. Harrison has been used almost exclusively as a second baseman this year. In the 81 games he has appeared in the field this year 79 came at second, including 77 starts.
