The Royals and Nationals are among the teams interested in free agent pitcher Wei-Yin Chen who has spent the last four seasons with the Orioles.
Pitching in the always difficult AL East, the left hander has proven himself posting a 46-32 record, 3.72 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP though his first 117 career starts at the big league level.
Chen, 30, is said to be looking for a five-year deal in the neighborhood of $100 million.
With Jordan Zimmermann joining the Tigers and Doug Fister expected to go elsewhere the Nationals are desperate for another starter behind the likes of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez.
With David Price, Zack Greinke, Johnny Cueto, Jeff Samardzija, John Lacky, Hisashi Iwakuma and Zimmermann all off the market the time for the likes of Chen, Mike Leake and Scott Kazmir to sign is now.
The Orioles had been interested in re-signing Chen to a contract but talks on that front have gotten a bit quiet.
