Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco will miss the rest of the 2015 season in order to undergo hip surgery on June 29.
Mesoraco was on a rehab assignment after not catching a game since April 11. Brayan Pena has been serving as the everyday catcher for the Reds and will continue to do so going forward.
The Reds will miss continue to miss his bat in the meantime. He was an All-Star last season after hitting .273/.359/.534 with 25 home runs and 80 RBI.
