Phillies designate Grady Sizemore for assignment

The Philadelphia Phillies have designated outfielder Grady Sizemore for assignment.

Sizemore, 32, spent the end of last season with the Phillies earning himself a $2 million contract over the winter from the team. However since then he has produced sparingly at the plate hitting just .245/.288/.296 with no homers in 39 games this season.

While Sizemore was four for his last 11, it was not enough to stick with the team. Sizemore has started to show he can stay healthy but his production is no longer what it once was.

At the bottom of the NL East, the Phillies are expected to overhaul their roster as the trade deadline approaches.
