The San Francisco Giants designated infidler Casey McGehee for assignment on Sunday.
McGehee, 32, was designated for assignment to make room for Hunter Strickland to rejoin the Giants. The Giants traded for McGehee over the winter as a replacement for the departed Pablo Sandoval.
During his stay with the Giants, McGehee hit a lowly .200/.254/.282 with two home runs and nine RBI in 35 games.
The Giants figure to continue giving starts to Matt Duffy at third base. Duffy has started five of the last eight games there and entered Sunday hitting .353 with a home run and 12 RBI for the month of May.
