Once he clears waivers catcher Jarrod Saltamacchia will sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks reports Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.
Saltamacchia was designated for assignment by the Miami Marlins early into the second year of a three year deal that will give him $21 million.
Multiple teams showed interest in Saltamacchia but none of them can offer the immediate playing time that the Diamondbacks can offer. It doesn’t hurt that Chase Field has been one of baseball’s best hitters parks.
Befor earning his release from the Marlins the veteran backstop was just 2-of-29 with a home run. C
