The Seattle Mariners have designated left handed pitcher Michael Kickham for assignemnet.
Kickham, 26, struggled at Triple-A Tacoma this season after failing to make the Mariners out of Spring Training. In 21 innings of work at Tacoma Kickham compiled a 7.29 ERA while walking 28 batters in just 21 innings of work. He has experience as a reliever and a starter and should draw a decent amount of interest when he becomes available.
The move to dumb Kickham came as the Mariners added Joe Beimel to their active roster.
Beimel, 38, pitched 3 2/3 innings at Tacoma striking out five. He should settle into a left handed specialist role with the Mariners.
