The news for Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Rios was not good. Rios has been diagnosed with a fractured left hand.
Rios, 34, was hit by a pitch on Monday and suffered a non-displaced fracture of his fifth metacarpal. Currently there is no timetable for his return.
With Rios out Jarrod Dyson stands to pick up a good share of at-bats against right-handers. Paulo Orlando stands to gain at-bats against left handed pitchers.
Rios signed a one-year deal with the Royals this winter worth $11 million which carries an option for 2016 worth $12.5 million.
