Red Sox give Wade Miley three-year extension

The Boston Red Sox have given left hander Wade Miley to a three-year contract worth $19.25 million. The contract also includes a club option for the 2018 season.

With the new deal the Red Sox will have bought out all of Miley’s arbitration years and his first year of free agency – if the option is picked up.

Acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks in mid-December, Miley will try to make a seamless move to the American League. He finished his run with the Diamondbacks sporting a 3.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 7.0 K/9 in 638 2/3 total innings with the Diamondbacks.
