Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is making progress on his rehab.

On Monday Wieters will begin throwing from a distance of 120 feet. Wieters underwent Tommy John surgery in June and agent Scott Boras has already said he will be ready for the start of the 2015 season.

The Orioles used a patchwork of players at catcher last season so getting Wieters back healthy to start the season would be good news.

It is worth noting that Wieters, 28, is set to become a free agent at the end of this season so Boras is not about to say anything that could jeopardize a contract extension.

Wieters is a career .257/.320/.423 hitter with 92 home runs and 346 RBI.
