Nick Hundley unlikely to return to Orioles, Scott Downs lands with Indians, Asdrubal Cabrera suitors

The changes of catcher Nick Hundley returning to the Orioles continue to decrease. According to MASN Sports’ Rock Kubatko Hundley has a two-year offer on the table from another team.

Hundley served as a fill-in last year when Matt Wieters went down hitting .243/.273/.358 on the year between the Orioles and Padres. There was hope that the Orioles could get him as a cheap option behind Wieters again this year.

Asdrubal Cabrera remains a free agent but one team that could quickly sign him is the Phillies. After freeing themselves of Jimmy Rollins the Phillies will be looking for someone to man the shortstop position. The market for Cabrera may have to wait a few more days. One suitor falls off the map by winning the bidding for Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang.

One of the low-risk signings of this offseason is the Indians inking Scott Downs.

Downs, 38, is a few years removed from being a top left handed option in a bullpen after posting a 4.97 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 25/20 K/BB ratio over 38 innings with the White Sox and Royals in 2014 but if they get something out of him this year its only a plus.
