Angels willing to trade C.J. Wilson in order to get rotation upgrade

The Angels would like to sign Max Scherzer or James Shields, however to do so they would likely need to unload left hander C.J. Wilson first.

Wilson, 34, is coming off a poor season with the Angels win which he was 13-10 with a 4.51 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in 31 starts.

The first two seasons of Wilson in Los Angeles went about as well as anyone could expect however last seasons second half and a poor ALDS start have soured some on him reports CBS Sports‘ Jon Heyman.

Owed $38 million over the next two seasons Wilson’s trade prospects are slim right now since so many pitchers remain on the market. If the Angels really want to trade him they may have to sign one of the other pitchers first and then pull off the trade.

Personally we prefer Wilson to Shields – whose post season struggles were evident on the grandest of stages – and question if Scherzer is even an upgrade.
