The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired Adam Lind from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for pitcher Marco Estrada.
Lind had his $7.5 million option for 2015 picked up today by the Blue Jays but his chances to return to the team always were in question especially after the team made a move to add Justin Smoak days ago.
When healthy Lind has proven to be a valuable and productive part of the lineup hitting .301/.366/.490 with 29 homers and 107 RBI over 239 games the past two seasons with the Jays.
In exchange for Lind the Blue Jays are picking up 31-year-old pitcher Marco Estrada. Estrada is coming off a down season in which he appeared in 39 games – including 18 starts – producing a 4.36 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP over 150 2/3 innings.
Entering his final year of arbitration, the Blue Jays will hope that a change of scenery will return him to the pitcher that had a 3.87 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 2013.
