The Cincinnati Reds have declined the 2015 option on outfielder Ryan Ludwick.
Ludwick, 36, would have made $9 million had the option been picked up. Given that the Reds owe him $4.5 million as part of the buyout the team must feel the 36-year-old has nothing left to contribute.
A big 2012 campaign landed him a two-year deal worth $18 million from the Reds. After playing in just 38 games in 2013 he returned for 112 this season but managed just a .244/.308/.375 line with nine home runs and 45 RBI.
